Bucket List – 50 places for inspiration

With borders hopefully opening soon, a lot of people may be wondering “where to next”! Below is my bucket list, some I have been lucky enough to tick off (the ones i have visited have an ** after the name) and others are in the pipeline. Let Little Travel House help you tick off your list!

1.Angkor Wat. **

One of the most famous temples just outside of Siem Reap in Cambodia. Just one of many temples that are so unique and awe inspiring in the area. I was lucky enough to visit here in 2010 and can’t wait to go back with my family

2. South Georgia. **

An Island off the Antarctic Peninsular. It is where explorer Ernst Shackleton’s Grave is and I can honestly say is one of the most magical places on earth

King Penguins in Sth Georgia

3. Machu Picchu, Peru **

I am a sucker for an Iconic Landmark, I have been lucky enough to visit quite a few, some have disappointed and some have exceeded expectations. This is definitely the latter. Most people will hike the 5 day Inca Trail to get here, I am a bit of a wimp so opted for the 1 day hike up to the Sungate. Caught the train half way up the hill and then hiked the rest. We we finally reached the Sungate and the majestic view of Machu Picchu appeared I’m not shy to say I shed some tears

4. Cinque Terra, Italy **

The most beautiful 5 towns on the Italian Coast. You can hike between some of them for others you can catch a train. Each Little town has it’s own charm. My favourite though is the smallest Riomaggiore.

5. Petra, Jordan

Now this one I have not yet ticked off, but is at the top of my to do list. An ancient city, built into the rock, that dates back to the 4th Century. Intrepid have some great small group journey’s that give you a few days here as well as a night in the Wadi Rum desert!

Petra, Jordan

6. Giraffe Manor, Kenya

Who wouldn’t want to share their breakfast with these amazing creatures. This exclusive Boutique hotel is owned by the Safari Collection and located in Kenya, Nairobi. What a way to start or finish your Safari Holiday. Natural World Safari’s have some great itineraries that will include this one of a kind lodge!

7. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil **

This would have to be one of my favourite cities in the world. From Sugar Loaf Mountain to Christ the Redeemer to Copacabana Beach this city makes you feel alive. I was lucky to be there during Carnivale – normally held in February each year and is a once in a lifetime experience

8. Charles Bridge, Prague **

Now this photo is not my own, It’s been nearly 20 years since I visited Prague, well before digital cameras! There is something so surreal about being on this bridge at dawn. It feels like you have stepped back in time.

9. Ride the Jakobite Train, Scotland

I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, I can’t wait to travel on the real life Hogwarts Express!! Otherwise known as the Jakobite Train, you can travel on this from Fort William in Scotland!

10. Palawan, Philippines

Palawan is an archipelago of 1,780 islands on the western part of the Philippines. I have not travelled here yet but can’t wait to see these turquoise waters for myself. Little trickier to get from Australia as you will have to go via Manila and connections can be long but I think is will be well worth the effort.

11.Chefchaouen, Morroco

Chefchaouen, the blue diamond. Built on a mountainside, Chefchaouen is a city with a special vibes. It unique charm gives an impression of unreality. With its blue-rinsed houses, the whole city seems to be bathed in azure.

12.Lake Louise, Canada**

In my 20’s I lived in Banff, Alberta for a year, it is an amazing part of the world and Lake Louise is just stunning in summer or winter!

13. Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

Between the Capital Zagreb and the Dalmation Coast lies these amazing Lakes

24. Taj Mahal, India

25. Disneyland, Tokyo, Japan **

I haven’t actually been to the “real” Disneyland in California. However Tokyo Disney has a charm all of it’s own! And you MUST dress as a family. Everyone in Tokyo does!

26. Iguazu Falls, Argentina and Brazil **

On the border of these 2 countries these are some of the most beautiful falls I have ever seen. And you need to do it from both sides! From Brazil you get the distance views, and the Argentine side is more up close and personal
