What do I pack when going overseas?

Packing for an overseas holiday can be a daunting task, but with a few tips and tricks, you can make sure you have everything you need without overpacking. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Check the weather: Research the climate and weather conditions of the place you’re visiting and pack accordingly. Make sure you bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the climate.
  2. Make a packing list: Write down everything you need to bring, from clothes and shoes to travel documents and electronics. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don’t forget anything important.
  3. Pack versatile items: Choose clothes and shoes that can be mixed and matched to create different outfits. This will help you pack lighter and avoid overpacking. A down jacket is worth packing even for warm climates as a ‘just in case’ jacket as they stuff down into their pouches and take up little room.
  4. Don’t forget the essentials: Make sure you bring your passport, travel insurance, and any other important documents. Also, pack any necessary medications and toiletries. Take a photo of your essential documents and passports and save them in a shared folder that you can share with travel companions or loved ones at home.
  5. Pack for the plane: Bring a small bag or backpack for your carry-on items, such as snacks, a water bottle, a book or e-reader, and any electronics you’ll need on the plane. Some people pack a spare T shirt and underwear, just in case baggage is delayed!
  6. Consider local customs: Research the local customs and dress codes of the place you’re visiting, and pack accordingly. This will help you avoid offending anyone or feeling out of place.
  7. Use packing cubes: Packing cubes can help you stay organized and make the most of the space in your luggage.
  8. Leave some space: Leave some extra space in your luggage for souvenirs and other items you might pick up on your trip. even pack a duffel bag that folds up small…. great if you are a shopper! (remember to check your luggage allowance on your ticket!)
  9. Pack a travel adaptor and a small aussie powerboard. then you can charge everything with just one adaptor!

Remember, packing for an overseas holiday is all about being prepared and organized. By following these tips, you can make sure you have everything you need for a great trip without weighing yourself down with too much luggage.
